All posts for the month October, 2012

Many of my friends are weighed down by the pressures this life brings: job, relationships, family, etc. It pushes us to a survivor mentality: “if I can just get through this week…” Is there another way? Is this all there is?

I’m afraid so. It doesn’t get any better or easier. As a pastor, I would like to tell you that if you believe in Jesus your life will change and things will start getting better. I’ve been around long enough to know I can’t make that promise.

But this is the deal: in all of the history books I’ve read, and I love history, no one has ever taken a really bad situation and made it significantly better other than one person. No one has ever changed the ultimate destination of others except one person. No one has ever taken a terminal illness and cured it other than one person. No one has ever promised that they are the way, the truth and the life except one person.

I’m not sure Jesus will make your life better…but I know He can. I know that He has the power to do it. Will He? Maybe that’s more up to us than it is to Him. Read Mark 5:21-43 and see what you think. See if it doesn’t provide you with at least some of the answers to your present predicament.
