Point of Origin means something. When you hear that someone was born in Central Oregon that tells you something about that person…Eugene, that tells you something…Southern California, etc. Where we come from has a lot to do with where we end up.
When Jesus starts his ministry and he starts doing these amazing signs and miracles, it’s hard for the people to grasp. He was from Galilee. That meant something. It meant that he was poor, simple, and friends of fishermen. Someone from there didn’t do amazing things. They kept to themselves. Kept a low profile.
Jesus came to change the natural order of things. He redefined so many things (eye for an eye – Jesus told us to love our enemies; women have second place – he gave them first place; power is held by the wealthy and influential – his disciples had more real power than anyone else).
I am from Redmond. That means something. But Jesus takes the weak things and makes them strong; he takes those who shouldn’t make a difference in this world and uses them in mighty ways. Because of Jesus my life has been full and adventurous. As I follow Jesus, he takes my point of origin and turns the table – I am more than I would have been because of Him.
You can be more too!
