  1. I took another look at last week’s sermon and there is a different version where Satan comes across as the tempter rather than the source of all sin, rebellion, depravity and evil. I dreamed that Steve did an excellent job in finally starting the direct exposure of Satan for who he is. If this was not a dream then it looks more like backtrack and retreat. It is as important that professional clergy and staff take on Satan as it is important that radical Islam be addressed by civilian and military leadership. There is safety in allowing oneself to be pinned down on the beach. Then eventually they will be passed by in the battle, and their lack of forward initiative will be viewed in a different light. My Marine sergeant experience says: you showed up for the battle, you will engage the enemy, you will move forward. We pretend to put on our battle armor but then kill the messenger that there really is a raging battle out there.

  2. Do I believe that Satan exists and is active in the world-absolutely. I think it is important to know that Satan is out there and as it says in 1 Peter 5:8,9 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world”. I don’t even have to step off my doorstep to find Satan at work, just think about all the worst that the internet has available if you are not careful of where you go on there. I need to be seeking that full armor of God for protection and one of the important pieces is faith. Eph. 6:16 “above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.”

  3. I not only believe what the Bible says about the devil, life and experience bear that out. I also have come to believe the Bible’s prescriptions for dealing with the devil’s schemes. As I walk them out, I further see that God’s Word is trustworthy and He is faithful to enable me to obey it. Praise the Lord!
